Overview
To understand the added benefit of enhancements to school mental health (SMH) services on:
-
Reach and access of school mental health services for middle school students
-
Improving the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes for students

The Partnering for Student Wellness project is a research study comparing two school behavioral health programs, to learn how to help schools create a welcoming environment for students and staff. This study will evaluate evidence-based interventions and how they contribute to students’ academic and emotional/behavioral success.

Students and parents/caregivers were invited to participate in the PSW project through two distinct channels. First, students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades who were receiving counseling services in participating schools were invited to join. Second, students from each of the participating grade-levels were randomly selected to complete a survey measuring student perceptions of school climate. In addition to student participation, parents/caregivers of participating students received detailed information about the project and were invited to complete surveys related to their student's wellbeing.
